Details

Persecution is real. It is a daily reality for more than 365 million Christians worldwide.

Every year, the World Watch List is produced which ranks the top 50 most dangerous countries to live in as a Christian. The World Watch List is based on a comprehensive scoring system that measures the degree of freedom Christians have in five key areas of life - private, family, community, national, and church life. These are then added to the amount of violence they experience to provide a final ranking.

PRAYER POINTS TO CONSIDER FOR THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE PERSECUTED CHURCH:

  • Pray that converts who have counted the cost for following Jesus will have access to a community of Christians to support and build them up.
  • Pray for the establishment of strategic relationships between Christians and local leaders, which will inspire greater respect among communities.
  • Pray for protection for those Christians who are threatened and under pressure from their families and communities.
  • Pray for Christian leaders being threatened with imprisonment by their oppressive government.
  • Pray for pastors pressured to provide the government with information about church leaders.
  • Pray for our brothers and sisters who deal with the constant threat of violence. The violence often ends in loss of life, physically injury or property loss.
  • Pray the Church will be able to withstand pressure to give up the faith and have the grace to respond to their challenges.
  • Pray for God to give strength to all believers to stand strong in their faith, especially secret believers, so they might endure persecution and not compromise their faith. Pray also for the ongoing projects to reach believers in need and assist them with timely help.
  • Pray for Christians who have left their communities out of pressure to renounce their faith. Pray that the Lord would provide for their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
  • Pray that Christians who are mentally and physically abused would be granted steadfast faith.
